I've been feeling that every time I go to the U-District lately. And I live in the city again, but it hasn't helped.

I never /left/ the city, but there's city and there's /city/. The first hill apartment was great. I /walked/ to work. I was right on the edge of downtown, everything was just right there.

Indeed, and I think that's why I feel that way about the U-District; I walked to work, to school, to everything. (At the time I was living there, at least, the U-District seemed More Important/Interesting than downtown.)
