I've watched the first three minutes of the new West Wing. I want to ask: Why don't they show the new president's face? JOSH is working for him. Is Josh going to go work for the republican that beats Santos? I don't think that's very likely. Josh doesn't play like that. Thus, Santos won. It's /possible/ that Leo is the president, if Santos was shot, but. That's really the ONLY thing I can imagine justifying the secrecy in the foreshadowing.

Darn, I wanted Alan Alda as our president.

So you're saying that putting Alan Alda at the top of the billing is a red herring?

I think it's because his name begins with 'A', and he's a real famous actor.

Okay, but Jimmy Smits had some kind of really low billing, lower than just his alphabetical position, saying something like "And also starring" or some such.

I can't look at it again, since I deleted it from my TiVo already, but that sounds like the sort of special billing that Anthony Stewart Head and, after him, Alyson Hannigan, got on Buffy.

I just thought that intro was the the stupidest waste of button-pushing suspense evar. Oh yeah, like they're gonna tell us who the president is and just skip the campaign. Dumbasses.

I saw a big Santos rally on campus last weekend.

Going to UCLA is weird sometimes.

I didn't see Josh working for the President. I only saw him tell the other Bartlett alumni that the President had arrived.

Of course, I fully expect Santos to win. This is liberal wish-fulfillment central. And I say that as a card-carrying liberal.

But Josh wasn't there. Bartlett walked in alone (SS don't count), met the others. Josh comes jogging in to find the president. It definitely tasted like he arrived with the president's motorcade and came in to find Bartlett.

I agree that that was the flavor of it. But a case could be made that they were all gathering at their own speed... Bartlett was in his office at the library, Josh was running late and noticed the President's motorcade on his way in.

But as I said, the bottom line is that this is a blue state show, and the audience would disappear if they put a Republican in for more than a brief story arc. It's Santos.
