My cellphone has been stolen. I had it at the gas station, then went to safeway, then home. I lost it somewhere around there. Four calls have been made from it since then.

It is now suspended, and the girl would have been happen to talk about pricing for a new one, but I'm pissed off and have been drinking for three hours, and this is really not the time. I called it. several times. ONE of the times, I got a person. and asked for their number. and they gave it. I should have written it down. It was, I'm sure, fake, but who knows. Then I called tmobile.

Then I yelled, 'cause lights were on and the bedroom door was open, so I thought loree was home. BUT, I'm stupid, and charles is over. oops. Sorry kids.

:sighs.

I'm really ticked off.
It's a damned good thing I went on a slight bender this evening, or I'd be /really/ frothing at the mouth.

and I miss [livejournal.com profile] randomdreams. Not that he'd neccessarily make me feel better, but I'm really /not/ above emotional blackmail in these situations. COME BACK WE MISS YOU Plus: I bet he could make me a steam-powered nuclear cell-phone with first-strike capabilities.

So, I ordered from amazon. A T610 and Get More 600 + M2M. Total rebates of $230, so it costs negative. Nice.
Also, a Jabra bluetooth headset 'cause there was a $50 discount. So, I'm buying a phone that will cost me a negative amount of money, and a headset that costs me $30. Ok.

And, when the Nokia 9500 comes out, I will buy that, and give [livejournal.com profile] loree the 610, if she still wants it. And I will be happy, with my little brick of internety goodness.

I went ahead and paid for 1day shipping, 'cause it was like, $13 more than standard. Pff. So, tuesday or wednesday I should have a phone. Then I call Sprint and give them a list of appendages on which to suck.

So, yeah. I'll likely stop posting about cell phones for a little while. Then the phone will arrive. Then I'll post again. Then I'll stop again. Then time will pass and the Nokia 9500 will come out, and I'll start posting about cell phones again and you'll all hate me. But THEN, I'll GET ONE and start posting ABOUT the nokia FROM the nokia and you can REALLY hate me.

But that's ok.

So, I'm convinced that tmobile will suck the least for what I want.
I played with a T610 and while it's cute, and it IS tiny.. I don't think it'll give me the functionality I want. So, I'm lowering the priority of 'tiny tiny tiny' and raising the priority of 'real interenet'. Honestly, I want to be able to read LJ and stream my mp3 collection on my phone, that's where I'm setting the bar for 'perfect'. Shopping for phones, the S/E P900 and the Nokia 9500 look like they're my best bets. Neither is available yet. The 9500 is scheduled for Q4, I couldn't find a date on the P900.

Buying from amazon, I can get the Basic Plus 300 Nationwide plan and a T610 for $155 minux $130 in rebates. $30/m, which is more or less what I'm paying now, plus a new phone for $25, and then I should be able to get one of the other phones when they're available.

Thoughts?

I've had sprint for nearly 5 years now, and I'm on my second phone, but it's just Not Enough anymore, so I'm looking to switch, at least phones, maybe networks. But after shopping around phone makers and providers for a while - long enough to crash IE a couple times - I'm no closer to figuring out what I should get than I was when I started. So, I ask for advice. Any suggestions on phones to get/avoid or providers to use/avoid will be appreciated.

* I want free long-distance from anywhere in the US to anywhere in the US. I'll settle for from WA/OR/CA/KS to anywhere.
* I want to be able to access the internet. The real internet, not WAP.
* I want the phone to be TINY TINY TINY. My Sanyo SCP-5150 is the upper limit on size.
* I want bluetooth.
* I want to be able to sync the phonebook to my computer.
* Voice-dial /on the phone/ would be very nice (voice-dial from the network excites me less)

Other bells and whistles are fine, but that list is what my decision will be based on.
I don't need a camera, but wouldn't complain if there was one.
I don't need an FM radio for my cellphone.
I don't need my phone to be a complete PDA.

And yes, I realize the 'real internet' and 'tiny' lines are mutually exclusive. But that's ok.

So, I miss a lot of the nuances of human communication. to analogize to the book I just finished, I can understand the Braxin Basic Mode fully, but the forty-six other speech modes completely elude me. Reading books, watching movies, whatever, I'm paying attention to the story, what happens, etc, but I never even notice the subtexts, the morals of the story as it were, unless they're just hitting you upside the head with them (and I generally don't like such stories, as I find them preachy and hamhanded). People talk about the meaning of this story or that movie and I just nod, having seen none of it. It's weird.

I've decided not to discuss the carrot. It ties into the memory thing above.
