Got a spare IP, friend?
Oct. 20th, 2002 04:07 pmSo, I'm thinking, and have been for quite a while, that I'd really like to have an offsite backup server, and offsite DNS secondaries that I control. Location isn't that important, but out of state would be prefered, and off-continent would be best. Well, off-planet would be best, but we're not there yet.
So, I figured I'd toss the question out generally.. Anybody got a spare IP address and power outlet they'd be willing to donate (or rent at a very VERY modest rate)? I'm thinking of putting together some systems in little boxes (like, say, the microdesktop case Rigel's in now, or something along those lines), something that could just be shipped, told it's IP, and plugged in. I'd be more than happy to work out some kind of reciprocal service arangement, but can't offer much (if anything) in the way of money.
